NSEPF has an objective to create awareness, conduct research, and training for the protection and promotion of public interest and environmental justice with a focus on India.

We also aim to work actively for the protection of the environment and cultural heritage of India — including the Himalayas, rainforests, mangroves, coastal ecology, and natural resources like water.

Additional focus areas include health education, population control, and food security. NSEPF implements community-oriented research and training programs aimed at sustainable development and serving the public interest.
